Ka-hti-na robe offering ceremony, November 6, 2016

As you know that the Buddha allows only members of the Sangha who have stayed at one particular place during the whole three months of Buddhist lent to receive donation of robes. Celebration of Ka-hti-na robe offering ceremony can be observed only once at one particular monastery within one month of period from full-moon day of Tha-din-gyut to full-moon day of Da-zaung-mone.

At the same time, we, laymen will get special opportunities by donating alms, robes and other useful items for the Sangha for wholesome merit. There will be two trees on which some paper money bills and toiletries for the Sangha will be hung up. All of you and your loved ones are welcome to participate in hanging them up on the trees happily.

Time:

11:00 a.m. –   Offering lunch to seven members of the Sangha (Sayadaws)

11:05 a.m. –   Offering Mote-hin-gar (Burmese noodle in fish soup) to all attendees

12:30 p.m. –   Taking five precepts

12:35 p.m. –   Listening to the Sangha’s chanting prayers of Suttas for our protection

12:45 p.m. –   Offering Ka-hti-na robes to the members of the Sangha

1:00 p.m.   –   Listening to resident Sayadaw’s dhamma talk

2:00 p.m.   –   Announcement (if any)

Foods for both body and mind are free-of-charge.

There are many opportunities for you to get wholesome merit (Kuso):

  1. by attending the event and listening to the Dhamma talk;
  2. by bringing a small dish for the members of the Sangha’s lunch;
  3. by helping cooking volunteers one day before and/or
  4. by laying the tables and chairs for all attendees and well-wishers one day before the event, taking them down and doing clean-up after the event.

There will be more parking spots available inside the next door compound on the 108th Ave.
