MTBS Food Fair

We are going to have the second Burmese (Myanmar) Food Fair for this year at the MTBS monastery on Sunday, the August 12, 2018.

You and your loved ones are cordially invited to participate as a vendor and/or a customer. By coming to the event, you can get opportunities to gain camaraderie among fellow community members, to make new friends and to gain merit of donation (Dana kuso) as well as to enjoy the taste of Myanmar (Burmese) food and fun.

Time:  10:00 a.m. –  12:30 p.m.

So far, we have the following updated list of food and vendors for the fair.

  1. Thin-baw-thee-htaung (Papaya salad) by Ms. Oi;
  2. Dan-pauk (Bryani rice) by Ma Yin Yin Ohn;
  3. Chin-baung-gyaw (Cooked sour leaves); Nge-pi-kyaw (Burmese Ba-la-chong), Ba-zun-gyin (Sour Prawn), Thar-gu (Sar gu), Mote-nghin-chin (Sour preserved mustard) and Pe-poak-kyaw (Deep fried Shan bean) by Daw Shwe Sein and family;
  4. To-fu by Aunty Nu;
  5. Mote-hin-gar (Burmese rice noodle in fish soup) by Ko Tun Aung Kyaw;
  6. Ba-zun-kywat-kyaw (Deep fried stuffed shrimp) by New World printing family;
  7. Keema-paratha (Paratha with chicken, mutton and yellow bean) by Daw Ohnmar Han;
  8. A-sone-thoat (Mixed salad) and Kyaut-kyaw-ye (Grass Jelly drink) by Ma Hnin Wit Ye;
  9. Tofu-thoat (Tofu salad) by Ma Nge and Ko Ye Htut;
  10. Shwe-hta-min (Golden rice) and Shwe-yin-aye (cold mixed drink) by Daw Khin Khin Oo; and
  11. Kha-yan-chin-thee-nga-pi-chet (Tomatoes paste without fish paste), Kyar-zan soup (Vermicelli soup) and Ohn-noat-kyaut-kyaw (Coconut Jelly) by Daw Myint Myint Yi.

We however, sincerely urge you to come early to get what you want. Or else, you will be disappointed when they are sold out. Past experience indicates that food were sold way before the closing time.

There may be other opportunities to get Kuso (merit) by laying the tables & chairs, putting up and taking down tents or canopies for vendors and well-wishers, before and/or after the events.
